Which one, they can be replaced with the Legacy ones, of the same years.

Hi. Thought you mentioned one of the necessary crankshaft sensors was exclusive to SVX only. If I read your post correctly, would like 4 of those exclusives if possible. Was unable to locate any of those SVX exclusives on Ebay. Subaru of America and Subaru of Canada only gave me the bum's rush, the finks. Anyway, thanks for answering.

Yes the No.1 sensor is, but in the case of no choice, you can fit the legacy one. Fits in the hole, plug fits, just that it won't turn far enough to put the bolt through the hole. Just put a washer on it down the side of the sensor to hold it down.
A proven mod.

Hi. Wow, that's great to know. Maybe I can keep my 2 SVX's for a few more years now, and the recent expensive red paint job on the '97 will have been worth it. Thanks again.

Hi. Talked to my mechanic about your comments about SVX crank sensors and Legacy sensors. He wrote back:

"yes it works, -but unfortunately only one can be replace using Legacy sensor , -but in most cases you have to replace both sensors; just like in your case. I had only one SVX original sensor,- the other one was replace with Legacy's as you described".

So, now I'm confused again. What do you think? Thanks.

Robert what he is saying is right, but the ‘SVX original sensor can be replaced with the Legacy sensor with some modification.
The No 1, and No. 2 sensors are under the alternator, the No 2 is a Legacy sensor, the No.1 is the SVX only sensor, but the only difference is the angle that the plug fits on it. If you fit a Legacy sensor in the No.1 position, you have to turn it around so that the plug will fit on. Then the bolt will not fit through the hole in the mounting lug, so you fit a washer to the bolt and fit the bolt down beside the mounting lug hole, with the washer over the mounting lug, to clamp the sensor down.

I thought I had a picture of it done, but can’t find it sorry.
