1992 svx fuel gauge always reads empty. I am in process of replacing fuel pump and would like to resolve any potential problems with fuel gauge while i am working in the fuel tank. how can i check out and isolate the gauge problem???
Thanks,
walt

Check to see if there's power going from the sending unit in the pump to the gauge. If it's got power and the gauge still doesn't work then i'd replace just the fuel gauge, I have a spare if you need one.

The tank is a saddle tank and uses a float on each side. The best way to test them and to check the resistance coming across the wires from the floats. It should increase and decrease when you move the float up or down. If thats not happening, you need to replace the floats. I'm not sure on the OHMS our sending units run, but somebody might chime in that does.
Anybody have a little more info. for him?
