I have posted this on the SVXWN as well. There is a particular red 96 SVX on ebay.com currently. This car was originally Ebony Mica from the factory and has been Maaco-ed twice Red. :yuk:

I have seen this car in person a few times and the paint is VERY bad, and it has been in a collision at least once and repaired improperly. None of the front end parts line up.

Stay away from this car.

Why the fuck is there overspray on the coolent tank?!:yuk:  Maaco sucks at life! I was going to have them do a respray on mine because I cant afford anything better and and cant live with my paint, but seeing that I may as well do it myself. At least I wont overspray.

Well maaco IS the slut of the paint industry, but when you deal with sluts you take known risks I guess. Thats the car version of the clap right there.

My friend got his car painted at Maaco after he prepped it. We drove it to Maaco in March, they said they would hit the whole thing with 400 grit when he got there, and wash it off. They did neither, and painted OVER the road salt on the sides of the car.

Unbelievable.

400 grit is WAY TOO COARSE to paint or seal over. 600 or 800 grit is preferred by GOOD painters as it will not show sand scratches.

Yeah, it was 600. Sorry. Point being, they didn't do either, and painted OVER SALT.

I would have thought you'd freak over that instead of me using the wrong grit.

Yeah, no I'm really glad that this was posted, cuz I was weeks away from going to maaco. I mean I heard horror stories before, but Damn.  Even when I drive by them I'll switch to the farthest lane. If they painted over road salt on my car I would have raised an insane amount of hell. I hope your buddy did too.

Well, a good painter will sand the car out and obviously they're not good or professional painters. If the car was junk and MACCO painted over road salt i'd be like "thanks for the free chip guard":P

my friend had his riviera painted with the premium paint. he took it back five times before it was ok. but over all it turned out fine. i think you just get what you pay for there.
